US Presidential Candidates, Donald Trump and Joe Biden
It is now 10 days after Election Day and almost a week since Joe Biden was elected president by the networks.
This is after William Barr, the US Attorney General, yesterday authorized the Department of Justice to investigate Trump’s claims of electoral fraud during the November 3 election fraud.
Bob Bauer, the campaign lawyer for Biden, who lamented the change, said the the decision of the Attorney General to allow investigations “will only fuel the ‘specious, speculative, fanciful or far-fetched claims’ he professes to guard against.”
Doubts remain as to whether the US will experience the same kind of smooth transfer of power that has anchored its democracy for a long time
However as is tradition, the Trump government has yet to invite the president-elect to the White House.
For sitting Presidents and Vice Presidents and their successors to meet, it has been a time-honoured tradition that reflects a peaceful transition in the US
This means that Joe Biden will not obtain additional funds for his transition team, and both touchstones of the structured transition process have not been cleared to receive intelligence briefings.
