Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed
In a statement made available to newsmen, Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, made the remark.
The accusation was identified by Mohammed as a case of honest disagreement on the causes of violence in Nigeria between the two nations.
Nevertheless, in a statement by his Media Aide, Segun Adeyemi, Mohammed said:
”Nigeria does not engage in religious freedom violation, neither does it have a policy of religious persecution. Victims of insecurity and terrorism in the country are adherents of Christianity, Islam and other religions.”
He said Nigeria jealously protects religious freedom as enshrined in the constitution of the country and takes any abuses in this regard seriously.
