There was an attack by armed gangs at a mosque in Zamfara state. Among those allegedly abducted was the imam.
The spokesman for the Zamfara State Police, Muhammad Shehu, said security forces had been deployed to the area, and an investigation had been launched.
The Fulani, who have migrated south to graze their livestock, say that farmers have tried to steal their livestock and attack their people.
Often, armed groups take advantage of tensions and arrange attacks.
