Expert Says Biden’s Proposed Gun Tax Unconstitutional

Joe Biden, United State’s President-Elect
Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee, wants to impose a levy on those firearms that people already possess.

The proposal could cost a total of up to $34 billion for existing gun owners across the country, according to one report.

Biden wants to introduce legislation to prohibit the production and sale of “assault” weapons and high-capacity magazines.

He also plans to include such guns in the National Firearms Act in order to impose a levy of $200 on any weapon that someone already owns.

A professor of political science at Suffolk Community College, Nicholas Giordano, says Biden’s plan goes against the constitution.

The National Weapons Act has been in effect since 1934, Biden claims.

But the law of 1934 and its tax only apply when a gun is made. Not to those already in possession.

Giordano says this year’s lockdown and violent protests in cities across the United States made people across the entire political spectrum understand how important gun ownership is.
