According to the Defence Headquarters, several terrorists from the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) have been neutralized in airstrikes at Tumbun Allura in Borno by the Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole.

Coordinator, Operations of the Defence Media, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche In a statement on Monday said the airstrikes also destroyed the logistics hub of the terrorists on the edge of Lake Chad in Northern Borno.

Some of their structures, including a suspected fuel storage facility, were also destroyed in the attack, Enenche said.

He said the air raid was carried out on Sunday following reliable information from human intelligence as well as aerial surveillance missions that led to the position being identified.

According to him, a command post was found and demolished, as well as a suspected fuel dump, with a large number of jerry cans and barrels hidden in provisional structures inside the village.

“The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) attack aircraft, dispatched by the Air Task Force to engage the location, scored accurate hits in the target area resulting in the destruction of the terrorists’ fuel dump, which was seen engulfed in flames.

“Several ISWAP elements were also neutralised as a result of the airstrike,”

he said.
